Pictures of the Day: Rashad Evans and famous people

As Rashad Evans trained for this Saturday's title bout with Jon Jones, something about his camp attracted famous people.
Rashad Evans shared this picture of when football Hall of Famer Michael Irvin dropped by their camp. Do you think they're discussing the draft position of Chandler Jones?

During a trip to Puerto Rico, Evans met up with boxing legend Felix Trinidad. It was pretty rude to punch the camera, gentlemen.

Here, Evans is with Victoria Azarenka, the No. 1 ranked tennis player in the world and the winner of the 2012 Australian Open. As shown on "Primetime," he also was in the stands for one of her matches.
Before Evans' UFC 133 bout with Tito Ortiz, he picked up striking tips from another boxing legend. What advice do you thin Bernard Hopkins had for Evans?

Jon Jones Pegged as Odds-On Favorite Over Hendo

UFC light heavyweight champion Jon Jones just defeated Rashad Evans by unanimous decision in the main event of UFC 145 and has already been matched up with Dan Henderson for his next title defense. It should come as no surprise that early estimates by oddsmakers have the young dynamo cast as a sizeable favorite to win his next title defense.

Reader Rants: Cagereaders take on the Olympics, Jon Jones/Muhammad Ali comparisons and advice for Rashad Evans

After you had plenty to say about Brock Lesnar, Brock Lesnar and Brock Lesnar last week, Cagereaders were a bit quieter this week. However, you still had plenty of opinions to share. Read on for the latest Reader Rants. If you want to join in, like Cagewriter on Facebook and comment on stories. Also, we still are looking for your picks on the UFC 145 main card, so go like the page and tell us who you're picking and why.

MMA fans look at the idea of the sport in the Olympics with a bit of skepticism.

That would be very cool, but the Olympics is very heavy on safety. Probably it would be like combat sambo with the headgear and shin guards, and maybe an elbow pad. -- Gab'bo Hofileña Delgado

I can't see it happening. If all the title holders decided to fight in the Olympics that would mean 3-4 months with no title fights. It's hard to sell PPVs without title fights. -- Kevin Dailey

The UFC made another Jon Jones/Muhammad Ali comparison in a video posted on Cagewriter's Facebook page. Readers felt the comparison was a bit too early in Bones' career.

Purely fighting, okay, the comparison is fine. Young, talented, seemingly unstoppable. But Ali was culturally so much more than a boxer, and I like Jones but I don't see him as a cultural icon forty years after he stops fighting. -- John Wilcox

No offense to Bones, but that comparison doesn't fit as much to me as Ali to Anderson Silva. Same attitude, same long-term domination, not nearly the same cultural impact... but I think Silva would be the closest MMA fighter to compare to Ali. -- Jason Zachary

After hearing advice from Rashad Evans' mother on how to handle Jones, several Cagereaders offered their advice to Evans. Much of it is not very nice.

Fake an injury before the fight cuz jones is going to crush him. -- Doug Martin

The night before the fight, you pull a Tonya Harding! -- William Corral

Use plenty of ice for the swelling and lots of Kleenex to wipe your tears. -- Jimbo Thompson

Rashad Evans? busted eye and Mac Danzig?s busted ankle are your pictures of the day

Those short elbows that Jon Jones used on Rashad Evans, and the heel hook Efrain Escudero used on Mac Danzig did some damage. Evans tweeted a picture of his eye the day after the fight. Danzig, who managed to win his bout even though his ankle was swollen and ugly, showed how it was still bruised and swollen. He plans to get an MRI later this week to see what damage was caused at UFC 146. It's just another reminder that fighters' jobs are not like ours, unless your job involves laughing off injuries on a daily basis.

As the picture above can tell you, Ben Rothwell knocked out Brendan Schaub at UFC 145 on Saturday night. His left hook sent Schaub sailing. Though Schaub fought back after getting knocked out, the picture proves that he was out.

After the bout, Rothwell made a heartfelt speech, thanking the fans for their support, thanking them for asking for autographs and offering words of support through his career.
