Georges St-Pierre to try his hand at poker

As Georges St-Pierre continues to rehabilitate his torn ACL, he needs somewhere to put his competitive energy. The man didn't get to the top of the welterweight division and near the top of the Yahoo! Sports pound-for-pound rankings without a good amount of competitiveness, so now he'll use it at the poker table.

He signed a sponsorship deal with 888, an online gaming company. Through that sponsorship, he'll play in the 2012 World Series of Poker. He will also play in online special games that will benefit his anti-bullying charity.

"I have wanted to play poker for a while now as it is a great game of skill. It is not just your cards versus my cards; it is you versus your opponent. However, the most important aspect of my partnership with 888poker is that we are going to generate a great deal of money for my foundation that dedicates its efforts towards anti-bullying causes.

GSP has shown an incredibly icy stare when squaring off when his opponents. He may need to employ that at the poker table. For tips, he can turn to fellow fighter Mike Swick, who finished 10th of more than 2,000 in a WSOP event  in 2010. UFC ring announcer Bruce Buffer is also a poker aficionado. He has his own poker room at the Luxor in Las Vegas.

Nick Diaz to face world champion BJJ player Braulio Estima in grappling superbout

Nick Diaz has never been submitted in an MMA bout. While that streak may be safe as he sits out a suspension from the Nevada Athletic Commission for testing positive for a banned substance after his loss to Carlos Condit, his BJJ will be tested soon. Diaz will participate in a bout with Braulio Estima. (Since it's not an MMA bout, he doesn't need a license so he's not violating the suspension.)

Estima is a highly-credentialed blackbelt in jiu-jitsu. He has won a world championship and numerous titles in BJJ and has two gold medals and a silver from the respected Abu Dhabi grappling tournament. In other words, he's one of the best around at groundwork.

Diaz and Estima will not wear gis (the traditional garment for BJJ) in their bout, making it more like an MMA bout. Diaz has eight wins by submission, but few opponents have the grappling skill of Estima. Will Diaz be able to win this bout? Tell us in the comments, on Twitter or on Facebook.

Is Jon Jones what ?Greatness Is??

In hyping up the UFC 145 championship bout between Jon Jones and Rashad Evans, the UFC has started a campaign called, "Greatness Is." You may have seen their ad with Evans talking about why he pushes himself to fight. Now, they released this video of Jones showing what greatness is.

Note: Lyoto Machida and Quinton Jackson both defended the light heavyweight belt since Chuck Liddell. Nonetheless, Jones' quick ascent to the top of the 205-lb. heap has been impressive. Will Evans stop him on Apr. 21? Tell us in the comments, on Facebook or on Twitter.

Knockout of the week: Michael McDonald takes out Alex Soto

The good news for Miguel Torres? At UFC 145, he will have his first fight since getting cut, then rehired by the UFC. The bad news? It's against Michael McDonald, a bantamweight barely old enough to buy beer in the U.S. McDonald is on a seven-bout winning streak, and in his last fight, he did this:

Torres is one of the most experienced bantamweights in the UFC. At 31, he has 44 fights under his belt. The former WEC champ is 2-1 in the UFC, with the loss coming in a tight decision to Demetrious Johnson.

McDonald is a tough up-and-comer, while Torres is an established power at 135 lbs. Who will take this fight? Speak your mind in the comments, on Facebook or on Twitter.

Knockout of the week part II: Dennis Siver?s spinning back kick

MMA judges do not award points for originality, and wins are still wins whether they happen with style or not. But that doesn't mean MMA fans won't appreciate a knockout with a little flair from time to time.

Dennis Siver brought that panache to his fight with Nate Mohr at UFC 93. He took him out with a spinning back kick to the abdomen and following up punches.

Siver then used the same attack to take out Paul Kelly at UFC 105. Watch Siver's next bout on UFC on Fuel in April.
