Hulu Presents: ?A Day In the Life? with Jason ?Mayhem? Miller

Jason "Mayhem" Miller's second appearance in the UFC may not have gone exactly how he had hoped for, but the entertaining middleweight remains one of the sport's most fan-favorite fighters regardless. Ahead of that fight, Miller was followed for a day by camera crews for Hulu's "A Day In the Life" series, giving an inside look at the entertaining fighter's life just days before the fight.

Whoops! Ian McCall/Demetrious Johnson bout should have been a draw

In the first ever UFC 125-lb. match, an error by the athletic commission in Australia screwed up the result. Ian McCall and Demetrious Johnson's bout should have been scored as a draw, and their fight should have gone to a fourth, sudden-death round.

After the fight, MMA Junkie's John Morgan reported that the score announced was not the score written on the judges cards he received. During the post-fight press conference, UFC president Dana White reported that the fight was actually scored as a majority draw. By the rules of the flyweight tournament, it should have gone to a fourth and decisive round, but the error was discovered too late.

"Controversy has stuck to us like glue. Human error happens. Johnson-McCall was a draw. Fight was supposed to go to a fourth round. The commission has taken responsibility," White said.

The two will rematch to decide who will take on Joseph Benavidez, the other flyweight tournament winner at UFC on FX 2 on Friday night. For McCall, it's another chance to give the fans a show.

"We get to fight again. I feel vindicated," McCall said.

Johnson was looking forward to fight Benavidez for the promotion's first flyweight title, but now the process will take longer.

"I thought I had the victory, and it sucks because it prolongs stuff," Johnson said.

One consolation for Johnson and McCall is that they won the $50,000 Fight of the Night bonus, and they both received their win bonuses. They will now have to schedule another fight to see when they can get a step closer to the championship belt.

?The Ultimate Fighter: Live? premieres with 16 one-round fights

"The Ultimate Fighter," the reality show that helped jumpstart the UFC's success, began a new chapter on Friday night as it switched both channels and format. For the first time, fights were shown live and on FX.

Though fights on TUF were previously two rounds with a sudden-death round when needed, the fights to get on the show were just one round. Fighters who needed time to find their rhythm did not fare well, but the ones who managed to win by submission or knockout got a $5,000 bonus. Some highlights from the fights:

-- Sam Sicilia wasted no time making a name for himself, getting the fastest knockout of the day in just eight seconds.

-- After Andy Ogle's win, he jumped onto UFC president Dana White for a full-body hug.

-- Dakota Cochrane, the fighter whose past included acting in gay pornographic movies, did not make the house. He lost a split decision.

-- On the way to losing to Al Iaquinta, Jon Tuck also sustained a broken and disfigured toe.

Editor?s note: Ch-ch-changes at Cagewriter

Happy Monday, everybody. After a weekend full of armbars, smack talk, controversy, judging issues, and a new champ, we have plenty to discuss in the MMA world. I promise that we will get to that in short order.

But before we do, I wanted to let you know about some changes at Cagewriter. I'm Maggie Hendricks, and I'm your editor. Steve Cofield will focus on his ever-growing sports radio empire, and you can still find him on Twitter and at ESPN 1100 in Las Vegas.

Cagewriter is here to cover the ins and outs of mixed martial arts. Sometimes that's fun, like enjoying Rousimar Palhares' first birthday cake with him, or chronicling some of the ridiculous swag that has found its way into our sport. Sometimes that's analytical, like when we break down fights or judges' decisions. Sometimes it's hard, like when society's ills find their way into our sport. Mostly, it's a place where we can discuss how MMA brings people from all over the world together to use the common language of fighting.

The site won't be the same, but I will work hard to bring you all the madness MMA has to offer. I'll need your help, too. I want to know what you want to see on Cagewriter. Talk to me on Facebook, on Twitter, or via email.

It's time to turn and face the strange of MMA. Hope you enjoy.

Thailand sport climbing: can you help?

Since an old friend told me about his climbing trips to Thailand it’s been one of my boxes-to-tick. Climbing by the beach and then relaxing in the blue seas sounds too good to be true. I’m about to find out - I’ve decided to do it later this year… Photo kindly shared by HalonaCoast on Flickr I’m [...]
