Lyoto Machida offers to fight Chael Sonnen with one arm

Chael Sonnen has picked fights with Anderson Silva, Lyoto Machida's good friend, and Jon Jones, the UFC light heavyweight champion who recently beat Machida. Now, it's "The Dragon" who wants a piece of Chael.

Machida used his Twitter account to call out Sonnen. In Portugese, he wrote a message that translated to, "Chael Sonnen, just got out of surgery, but can give you your gift inside the octagon with one arm and only you accept the fight."

Sonnen responded that he "doesn't have time for pee-pee mouth," referring to Machida's practice of drinking his own urine.

"All the time I can spare him is the time to cold cock him and walk away," Sonnen added.

Sonnen's sights are currently set on Mark Munoz, whom he will fight on Jan. 28 at UFC on Fox 2.

Look out featherweights, neophyte Jimy Hettes crushes Nam Phan at UFC 141

LAS VEGAS - The UFC must have a lot of faith in Jimy Hettes because it rolled the dice by putting the 24-year-old on the pay-per-view portion of UFC 141.

Hettes made the bosses look smart by putting on a three-round exhibition of grappling, takedowns, submissions, and ground and pound on his way to an easy win over Nam Phan, 30-25, 30-25 and 30-26 in the PPV opener at the MGM Grand Garden Arena.

The promotion is looking for future contenders to face featherweight champion Jose Aldo Jr. No one is saying Hettes is anywhere near ready for that type of fight, but he's certainly worthy of following as one of the brighter prospects in the division.

Hettes, 24, only had one UFC fight under his belt and he was taking on a grizzled veteran of the sport in Phan. He came out strong with takedowns just 16 and 35 seconds into the fight.

From there, Hettes used trip takedowns and Judo throws to dump Phan (17-10, 1-2 UFC) on his head whenever he wanted.

"I'm very happy right now. Whether it was 10-8 or 10-9 or if he was winning, he's such a tough competitor, so every second I had to be going forward. Just making sure I didn't let him get on the offensive," said Hettes.

On the ground, Hettes (11-0, 2-0 UFC) shifted between working for submissions and pounding away at Phan's head with super accurate punches.

"I was working on keeping him down on the ground. Everyone knows I'm a submission specialist, so it just added a whole other aspect to my game," said Hettes.

Phan has been very competitive in four fights under the Zuffa banner. The severity of tonight's loss was shocking. Phan entered the bout as a minus-225 favorite.

According to FightMetric, Hettes landed 225 shots to just 25 for Phan. He took him down 10 times and passed his guard nine times.

Rockhold suggests it?s time to shine spotlight on ?true? fighters not guys like Lesnar

As Brock Lesnar prepped to enter the Octagon at UFC 141, Luke Rockhold, who was cageside, knew the big man was in big trouble.

"I think he was just playing a role. I saw right through him. His confidence looked very ... it didn't appear real," Rockhold told ESPN1100/98.9 FM in Las Vegas.

Rockhold was working the Sin City promotional scene today to push his Saturday fight (Showtime 10 p.m. ET/PT) against Keith Jardine at The Joint inside the Hard Rock Hotel. He didn't pull any punches when it came to Lesnar's performance.

"Did you see him singing the rap country? When he started rapping along to the country song I was like ' what the hell is this guy doing?' I almost saw his lip quivering as he was walking into the cage. He just looked like he was playing a role. He was kind of believing his own hype that people were putting in his ear. I saw true confidence out of Overeem and a true fighter," said Rockhold.

Rockhold called it before the fight and said most of the guys around him at American Kickboxing Academy in San Jose, Ca. were saying the same thing.

"Lesnar's what I thought. All the media and all you guys had Lesnar taking it. The fighters had Overeem," said Rockhold.

Rockhold understands why Lesnar was around, but is hoping younger fighters get more of the spotlight in 2012.

"I think he brought a whole new audience to the sport. So I can't exactly say it's a negative. People really need to see who the true fighters are. Lesnar's not the best in the world. He just got the right matchups and the right fights," said Rockhold.

The 185-pound champ for Strikeforce headlines a deep card with rising prospects like Muhammed Lawal and Tyron Woodley. He was also very bullish on Jordan Mein and Tarec Saffidiene.

Rolles Gracie to Face Bob Sapp at One FC 2

One-time UFC competitor Rolles Gracie will aim to extend his win streak to three when he faces former Japanese MMA superstar Bob Sapp at One FC on Feb. 11 in Jakarta, Indonesia.

Gracie announced the matchup late Sunday and Sherdog.com was first to report of the matchup.

All five of Gracie (5-1)'s MMA wins have come by either an arm-triangle choke or a rear-naked choke. In February 2010, Gracie made his UFC debut at UFC 109 and was released shortly after the disappointing loss to Joey Beltran. In 2011, he scored first-round wins by arm-triangle choke against Braden Bice and Lee Mein.

More than ever, Sapp (11-9) in recent years has been fighting strictly for the paycheck. He lost all of his fights in 2011 (three in MMA and three in kickboxing) and has dropped seven of his last nine MMA fights. Outside of his epic fight against Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira in 2002, all of Sapp's MMA fights have ended in the first round.

Igor Gracie, Ole Laursen, Kevin Belingon, Yodsanan Sityodtong, Yuya Shirai and Youne Victorio Senduk are also slated to compete on the Feb. 11 card.

ONE FC held its inaugural event last September in Singapore and in November announced a partnership with DREAM to co-promote and exchange fighters.
