M-1 Challenge 30 to Air December 9, While Showtime Negotiations Continue for 2012

M-1 and Showtime will team up for the fourth time when the two sides air M-1 Challenge 30 live on December 9 at 11 pm.

The event is the final one on the current deal which expires at the end of 2011, and a source with knowledge of the negotiations said the two sides are still in discussions for a 2012 extension.

In the headline slot of the Dec. 9 card is a rematch between M-1 Global welterweight champion Shamil Zavurov and Yasubey Enomoto, the promotion announced on Tuesday. The event will take place at The Hangar at the O.C. Fair and Event Center in Costa Mesa, California.

Zavurov is 18-1 so far in his career, and in April defeated Enomoto by unanimous decision in a five-round fight. That victory extended his win streak to 13 straight bouts.

Meanwhile, Enomoto is 8-3 and coming off back-to-back wins since losing in his first crack at the belt. In that first encounter, Enomoto had just eight days' notice after replacing the injured top contender.

In the co-main event, undefeated Alexander Sarnavsky will put his perfect 16-0 record on the line against Francisco Drinaldo (10-1).

The rest of the main card is comprised of Tyson Jeffries (7-6) vs. Eddie Arizmendi (15-5), Jose Figueroa (10-5) vs. Artiom Damkovsky (9-6), and Alessandro Ferriera (10-1) vs. Bao Quach (18-10).

UFC 139 postfight: Bonuses, company guys get wins and Faber could get Cruz plus TUF 15 coaching gig

UFC 139 postfight: Bonuses, company guys get wins and Faber could get Cruz plus TUF 15 coaching gigSAN JOSE, Calif. - It was refreshing to see three guys who've had a large part in helping to build mixed martial arts were big winners tonight at UFC 139. Urijah Faber, Stephan Bonnar and Wanderlei Silva all made it to the postfight press conference.

Faber picked up an extra $70,000 Submission of the Night while Silva's explosive tilt against Cung Le got one of the two Fight of Night awards handed out by UFC president Dana White. Dan Henderson and Mauricio "Shogun" Rua also got $70,000 for FON.

- The event drew 13,173 and a live gate of $1.268 million.

- Faber took out Brian Bowles less than six and half minutes to seal the deal on another title shot against UFC bantamweight champ Dominick Cruz. White confirmed that Faber is getting Cruz next, but that the champ is sidelined for a while with his latest hand surgery.

"We've got some ideas we were getting together tonight and talking about," White said. "We've got to talk to Urijah and Cruz first. Cruz just had hand surgery, so he's out for a little bit, but we have an idea. We have a plan."

When Faber made the suggestion that he and Cruz could be the coaches for Season 15 of "Ultimate Fighter," White raised his eyebrows as if to confirm that the pair have been discussed as possible candidates.

- Speaking of champs on the mend, Anderson Silva is working through shoulder issues. When a Brazilian reporter pressed White on reports that the promotion is headed to Sao Paolo, Brazil next June, he seemed shocked and wondered aloud how the news leaked. White didn't confirm or deny the report. When asked a followup question during his media scrum following the presser, White said it's very possible Silva could be held out until June.

- It's official that the UFC on Fox 2 will be in Chicago. White said the show will be two hours long and feature four fights. He would not elaborate on any of the candidates to fill the four main card fights at the United Center.

- UFC 139 Knockout of the Night went to 20-year-old Michael McDonald, who devastated UFC newcomer Alex Soto in just 56 seconds.

It's been quite a year for McDonald. He's 3-0 in 2011. Tonight, he likely made $7,000 to show and $7,000 to win. UFC 139's payday totals $84,000 for McDonald. He made $12,00 at UFC 132 and also won a fight of the Night bonus at Ultimate Fight Night 24 in March good for a total payday of $70,000. The Modesto-native has earned $166,000 this year.

Urijah Faber had one lucky locker room at UFC 139

If luck is a lady, she was holding Muay Thai pads in Urijah Faber's locker room at UFC 139 in San Jose on Saturday night. He tweeted a picture showing that every fighter in his locker room at the Shark Tank came out a big winner.

From left: Wanderlei Silva had a second-round TKO, Urijah Faber won with a second-round submission, Danny Castillo got a first-round TKO and Martin Kampmann took a split decision. Silva and Faber's nights improved as they both walked away with $70,000 bonus checks. Silva (along with his opponent Cung Le, and main eventers Dan Henderson and Mauricio Rua) won Fight of the Night, while Faber won Submission of the Night.

Rashad Evans will headline UFC on Fox 2 in Chicago

Rashad Evans will headline UFC on Fox 2 in ChicagoThe UFC's begun to roll out the schedule for its second show on Fox. The promotion hit a home run including Rashad Evans on the card against Phil Davis. Evans is a dynamite pitchman and an action fighter.

ESPN.com reported this morning that the fight was made for the United Center.

Davis and Evans were slated to fight back in August at UFC 133. The former Penn State wrestler is unbeaten in the UFC, while Evans, a former UFC 205-pound champ, has won three straight since a rough loss against Lyoto Machida.

Evans probably needs another impressive win to lock up the next title shot against Jon Jones. Jones defends his belt next weekend at UFC 140 against Machida. Dan Henderson moved himself into the mix for a title shot with his win two weeks ago at UFC 139. Following his dominant win in August, Evans said he would not wait around for Jones. Now he faces a risky test in Davis.

Other rumored fights for the UFC on Fox 2 card include Chael Sonnen versus Mark Munoz. MMAMania.com reported last week that the middleweight showdown was a done deal. The UFC has yet to confirm the bout.

Falling behind in line: Jon Fitch has no clue why his GSP rematch hasn?t come yet

Nick Diaz will get his shot, then it looks like Carlos Condit and Jake Ellenberger are in the running for a fight against Georges St-Pierre. Where's the guy who's 13-1-1 in the UFC at 170 pounds?

Jon Fitch is still wondering why he seems to be on the outside looking in when it comes to a title fight against the welterweight champ.

"It's confusing and I try not to think about it because I just want to focus on my fight and be able train again," Fitch told ESPN1100/98.9 FM in Las Vegas.

When pressed further by Yahoo! Sports' Kevin Iole, Fitch unloaded.

"It is frustrating because the truth of the matter is, I don't understand what the problem is. No one's come up to me and said 'we don't like what you're doing. Do this differently.' I've gotten absolutely zero feedback about what's going on," Fitch said. "I have no idea what's happening or why certain guys are getting title shots. It's a complete mystery to me and no one's approached me and said anything about my style or what I'm doing good or bad."

More than a few fans have turned against Fitch and his methodical style. On Fitch's Wikipedia page, one even went as far as labeling him "Decision [expletive]."

"I don't know who these people are (calling me boring). It's a mystery. I've never met one of these people ever in my life. I've never been told that by anyone in the UFC. I've never been told that by anyone I've ever met in any of my signings. I don't understand where it's coming from either," said Fitch.

An dominant victory win, could change everything. Fitch, who's strung together five straight decision wins and draw since his UFC 87 loss against GSP, faces the very tough Johny Hendricks. With Hendricks' developing striking game backed by a college wrestling background that includes two NCAA national titles, Fitch will score major points if he can finish his opponent at UFC 141.

UFC 139 picks, Vegas-style: Tough decisions to make reflected in close odds

SAN JOSE - The UFC put together a dynamite card tonight at the HP Pavilion. Want proof? Look no further than the betting odds. It's a tough call on all the big fights atop this card that features six former high level MMA champions.

Yahoo! Sports' Kevin Iole and Adam Hill from the Las Vegas Review-Journal joined myself last night on the "MMA Insiders" show on ESPN1100/98.9 FM to give their picks.

Iole and Hill both like Mauricio Rua in his fight against Dan Henderson. All three of us jumped on Cung Le minus-160. Urijah Faber was the pick of the crew over Brian Bowles, but all of us warned that minus-220 is a rich price against a guy with one-punch KO power. Listen here for the breakdown of all the fights.

Make sure to check out the straight up picks from the staff at Bloody Elbow.
