Erick Silva and Eddie Wineland big winners at UFC on FX 3

Several contenders distinguished themselves at UFC on FX 2 in Fort Lauderdale on Friday night.

Erick Silva continued his path of domination through the welterweight division with another first round win. This time, the victim was Charlie Brenneman.

Though Brenneman held off early submission attempts, he couldn't stay out of Silva's clutches for long. After getting the fight to the ground, Silva easily stretched out Brenneman and sunk in a rear naked choke to stop the bout at 4:33 in the first round. With that tapout, Silva won a $40,000 Submission of the Night bonus.

Silva now has two wins in the UFC, and his loss came by a weird disqualification. He's taken a step up in competition with every bout, and should continue to move up the crowded welterweight class.

Eddie Wineland sustained a large cut early in his fight with Scott Jorgensen, but that didn't slow either man. With blood gushing from his face, Wineland matched up with Jorgensen's wrestling for a tight first round. Wineland blew the bout open with a right cross in the second round. Jorgensen immediately dropped and the bout was stopped at 4:10 in the second round to give Wineland his first UFC win. For their exciting bout, Jorgensen and Wineland were rewarded an extra $40,000 each for Fight of the Night.

Josh Neer started strong against Mike Pyle, wobbling him several times in the first round, but Pyle got his revenge with a huge right hand. Neer was moving forward when Pyle caught him with a short right hook that sent Neer to the ground. The fight was stopped at 4:56 of the fight round. Like the other main card fighters, Pyle won $40,000, but for Knockout of the Night.

Junior dos Santos takes out Fabricio Werdum in the Knockout of the Week (VIDEO)

Back at UFC 90, now-UFC heavyweight champ Junior dos Santos made his UFC debut against Fabricio Werdum. Though MMA fans knew dos Santos was a student of Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira and a good striker, they had no idea of just how good until this happened. Skip to the three-minute mark for the action.

Since then, JDS has rattled off seven straight wins. Only two have gone to the judges cards, and he won two Knockout of the Night bonuses. Will that streak continue against Frank Mir on Saturday night? Tell us in the comments, on Facebook or on Twitter.

Junior dos Santos wins, transforms from power puncher to happiest man on the planet

Junior dos Santos defended the UFC belt at UFC 146. In the second round, the barrage of dos Santos' punches were too much for Frank Mir. Referee Herb Dean stopped the fight, and a smile took over dos Santos face.

When UFC commentator Joe Rogan asked JDS how he was feeling, the jubilant heavyweight yelled into the microphone.

"I'm feeling awesome, man!"

He smiled his way through the interview then talked about the young kids he works with in Brazil. He brought one of them with him to the fight. After hoisting the shy boy on his shoulders, JDS kept him there while posing for post-fight pictures.

In that 15-minute span, dos Santos showed what is so likable about the heavyweight champ. He can put on an exciting fight, hammering Mir so badly that his face was already swollen and bruised by the end of the first round. As soon as the bout was stopped, dos Santos' killer instinct subsided. He became the happy, smiling man who loved his job and wanted to share that joy with everyone he met.

Anderson Silva duels with sensei Steven Seagal over a beer (VIDEO)

The UFC middleweight champ, a referee, a cage announcer, and an actor/sensei/officer of the law/shooting glasses wear/leather coat aficionado walk into a bar:

Unfortunately, we don't get to see the end of their scintillating duel over mediocre beer. Does Silva rise up against the man who taught him the kick that knocked out Vitor Belfort? Do they agree the beer is mediocre, forget their feud and start singing with Bruce Buffer at the old timey piano? Does Dan Miragliotta find a hidden beer that he shares along with the secret to his always-glowing tan? There are so many ways this could end. Wardrobe malfunction marks beginning of Karl Amoussou?s Bellator win

In the first minute of Karl Amoussou's fight with David Rickels, a wardrobe malfunction happened that could have derailed the whole night. Rickels threw an inadvertent kick to Amoussou's groin that snapped the strap that held up Amoussou's protective cup.

This caused a delay in the Bellator welterweight tournament semifinal in Louisiana. Referee Jason Herzog informed the state commission officials on what happened, then asked, "Can someone go to the back and see if he can borrow a cup?"

Now, fighters are usually generous people. They'll share training time, clothes and equipment. But a cup?

Luckily, the Bellator cut man figured out a solution. As shown above, he used athletic tape to secure Amoussou's cup, and all was well in the cage. Amoussou went onto win a very close decision over Rickels and will now face Bryan Baker in the welterweight tournament final.

Daniel Cormier can no longer be called an exciting prospect, as he showed he's among the best heavyweights in MMA with a dominating unanimous decision win over Josh Barnett on Saturday night.
